PPEQuest is free: no paywall, no cookie banners, no ads following you around the internet. But the research, the writing, the weekly Briefing, the podcast and the hosting all cost time and money. A magazine has to keep the lights on somehow – so here is exactly how this one does.
Where the money comes from
- Readers. Some of you buy me a coffee. Every single one is appreciated.
- The shop. Practical guides and toolkits for the people who run PPE programmes – coming soon.
- Sponsors. Now and then a company from the safety industry sponsors a post, presents one of the free campaign kits, or sponsors a podcast episode or a newsletter feature.
Only brands I believe in
I only say yes to sponsors whose products I'd be comfortable recommending anyway. If a product – or the claims made about it – doesn't meet the standard (and in PPE, that means the actual EN, ISO or ANSI standard), the answer is no.
How you can tell
- Sponsored articles and Briefing stories are labelled Sponsored – on the page itself and on every card that links to it – and the sponsor is named.
- Campaign kits with a sponsor say "Presented by" wherever they appear.
- Sponsored podcast mentions and newsletter features are announced as sponsored.
- Links to sponsors are marked as sponsored links, for search engines too.
What a sponsor can't buy
- A good review, a ranking or a recommendation in an editorial article.
- A say in the rest of PPEQuest. News about a sponsor in the Briefing is treated like news about anyone else.
- You. Reader contact details are never sold or shared with sponsors.
Free samples
Manufacturers sometimes send me products to try. When an article or video is based on free samples, I say so in it. A free glove doesn't buy a kind word – just a fair test.
Who publishes PPEQuest
PPEQuest is published by LD Safety GmbH in Basel, Switzerland. The details are in the imprint.
