Before you start

Wear suitable welding clothing. Close it properly. Cover arms and legs. Check the rest of your PPE.

Too hot? Wrong fit? Tell us. Let's fix the setup.

How the five-minute talk runs

Run it in a safe, quiet area and bring the actual PPE and its instructions.

0:00–1:00 · Open. Show the poster. Ask what makes clothing difficult to keep closed: heat, poor fit or restricted movement. Listen before giving advice.

1:00–2:00 · Connect. Welding exposes people to heat, spatter and radiation. Suitable clothing covers arms and legs; the jacket is only one part of the protection system.

2:00–3:30 · Demonstrate. With no live welding, demonstrate the actual jacket and gloves using their instructions. Check closure, overlap, damage, contamination and comfortable movement.

3:30–4:30 · Fix one barrier. Agree an improvement: another size, replacement, cooling or a review of work and rest. Keep extraction, screens and other task controls in place.

4:30–5:00 · Close. Ask who will resolve the issue and by when. Key action: suitable welding clothing, closed and fitted as intended.
